A dripping, seized, or unreliable fixture shutoff deserves a controlled plan. Forcing an old valve can turn a manageable repair into active water damage. Start with the exact fixture, visible connections, and a safe upstream shutoff strategy.
Document the valve without forcing it
Send a wide view of the fixture and cabinet, close views of the valve and supply connection, and any readable fixture information. Do not force a stuck handle or disturb corroded piping for a photo.
Confirm upstream isolation
The scope should identify the known upstream shutoff and what it serves. In a shared building, management may need to coordinate notice before the line can be isolated.
Review the surrounding connections
Valve type, pipe material, supply line, escutcheon, cabinet opening, and accessible connection condition affect the work. A photograph cannot confirm piping concealed behind the wall.
Check operation before closeout
The approved scope should define replacement limits and the agreed operational and leak check. Any wall, cabinet, or finish repair should be identified separately rather than assumed.
